Do I like heights? No! Can I do hard things? You betcha! I’m taking on this challenge to remind myself that life is "Mind Over Matter". On April Fools Day 2023, I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I powered through Chemo, Surgery, and Radiation and completed my treatments just in time for a fresh start to 2024.

And that’s when it got mentally hard for me. Cancer doesn’t stop its impact when the treatments end. The irreversible effect left me uncertain of my purpose and the fear of recurrence stripped me of my drive. I was angry and not really sure where I fit any more. Through lots of hard work, relying on family and friends in ways they don’t even realize, and my weekly Victory Center yoga community, I am Julie!

This year I turned 50 and will cross my threshold for high risk of recurrence in October. I am resilient and know that I can achieve anything I set my mind on. It seems like a fitting time to give back to The Victory Center!

I will be going Over The Edge in honor of my family members living and deceased who have courageously fought their own battles with cancer, especially my Mom and Dad. Their strength is hidden in silence and smiles, but their courage is revered.

I will be rappelling 16 stories on Thursday, September 3, 2026 or Friday, September 4, 2026 to raise funds and awareness for The Victory Center!

Please consider making a donation to help fund FREE programs and services for newly diagnosed cancer patients, cancer survivors and their caregivers.

100% of funds raised will stay in our community.
